Applesauce Oatmeal Bread

A moist and flavorful oatmeal bread made with applesauce, spices, and walnuts. Great for breakfast with a smear of cream cheese.

  • 1.50 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 0.50 cup whole wheat flour

Preheat the oven to 350°F. Lightly grease a 9 " x 5 " loaf pan .

In a large bowl , mix together 1 cup granulated sugar , 2 large eggs , 0.50 cup vegetable oil , and 1.50 teaspoons vanilla extract .

In a separate bowl , whisk together 0.50 cup whole wheat flour , 1 cup all-purpose flour , 0.25 teaspoon baking powder , 0.50 teaspoon baking soda , 1.50 teaspoons cinnamon , 0.50 teaspoon allspice , 0.25 teaspoon nutmeg , and 0.50 teaspoon table salt . Add the dry mixture to the wet ingredients and stir until just combined.

Fold in 0.50 cup rolled oats , 0.75 cup applesauce , and 0.50 cup chopped walnuts .

Pour the batter into the prepared loaf pan . Bake for 55-60 minutes until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

Cool completely in the pan. Store well wrapped at room temperature for several days; freeze for longer storage.
