Asian Steak Stir Fry in the Air Fryer
Asian-style steak stir fry cooked in the air fryer with a savory sweet sauce.
Ingredients
- 1 lb flank steak
- 0.50 cup cornstarch
- 0.25 tsp baking soda
- 2 tbsp soy sauce
- 2 tsp sesame oil
- 1 tbsp minced garlic
- 3 tsp minced ginger
- 1 tsp brown sugar

- 2 tsp oil
- 4 cloves garlic
- 0.50 cup soy sauce
- 0.50 cup water
- 1.25 cup brown sugar
- 2 tbsp rice vinegar
- 1.50 tsp chili garlic sauce
- 2 tsp cornstarch
- 2 tbsp cold water
- — green onions
- — sesame seeds

Instructions
Steak
Slice 1 lb flank steak (or sirloin) into thin strips about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick, against the grain.
Toss with 0.25 cup cornstarch and 0.25 tsp baking soda (optional, for tenderizing). The mixture will be slightly sticky.
Marinade
In a bowl, combine 2 tbsp soy sauce , 2 tsp sesame oil , 1 tbsp minced garlic , 1 tsp minced ginger , and 1 tsp brown sugar .
Toss with the sliced steak and marinate for at least 30 minutes , up to 2 hours .
Cook the Steak
Preheat the air fryer to 400 F (200C) for 3 minutes .
After marinating, toss steak with 0.25 cup cornstarch until evenly coated.
Lay steak strips flat in the air fryer basket . Spray generously with oil spray .
Cook for 7 minutes to 10 minutes , shaking the basket every 2 minutes to 3 minutes . Work in batches to avoid overcrowding.
Sauce
Heat 2 tsp oil in a saucepan over medium heat.
Add 4 cloves garlic (minced) and 2 tsp minced ginger ; saute for 30 seconds .
Add 0.50 cup soy sauce (low sodium preferred), 0.50 cup water , 0.50 cup brown sugar to 0.75 cup brown sugar , 2 tbsp rice vinegar (optional), and 0.50 tsp chili garlic sauce to 1 tsp chili garlic sauce (adjust to taste).
Bring to a gentle boil.
Stir in 2 tsp cornstarch dissolved in 2 tbsp cold water and simmer until thickened, 1 minute to 2 minutes .
Combine and Serve
Transfer cooked steak to a bowl. Toss with the sauce and let sit for 5 minutes .
Garnish with green onions and sesame seeds . Serve over rice or with your favorite vegetables.
